SSAIS Advisory Board Member Susan Moen Presents on Protecting Gender Equity in K-12 Schools

January 27, 2026

Stop Sexual Assault in Schools advisory board member Susan Moen presented at the Clearinghouse on Women’s Issues (CWI) January panel, Challenges To Continue Progress Toward Education Equity Despite Deliberate Federal Efforts to Reverse It.

Moen discussed how changes to Title IX, including the return to the 2020 regulations, affect how K–12 schools address gender-based discrimination, harassment, and sexual assault.

She also explored how state and local education agencies, families, students, school staff, and nonprofit organizations can help protect gender equity amid limited federal enforcement. She emphasized the importance of strengthening state and local resources, supporting Title IX Coordinators, and helping students and families understand protections under state laws and school policies.

Moen also highlighted SSAIS resources to help K–12 schools, students, and families navigate these challenges.
