Stop Sexual Assault in Schools (SSAIS) is one of 10 lead signatories, alongside the National Women’s Law Center and eight other survivor advocacy organizations, calling on the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) to investigate and equitably resolve all pending sexual violence complaints under Title IX.
More than 100 additional organizations have joined the letter, urging OCR to fulfill its civil rights enforcement responsibilities and address students’ reports of sexual violence rather than diverting resources to other priorities. For students and families, years of unresolved complaints can mean protracted uncertainty and a lack of accountability. The coalition called on the Department to restore effective enforcement of Title IX and protect students from sexual harassment and assault in K–12 schools and higher education.
